Pictures with Santa – City of San Marcos (Women Health Center of Greece fundraiser): Work with local Eagle Scouts at the annual Breakfast with Santa, the 1st Sunday in December. Hair Chalking was added in 2013 as part of the event.
San Diego County Fair (Women Health Center of Greece fundraiser): Women Health Center of Greece assists as Student Showcase Clerks helping the Judges compile scores for student submitted art. In 2014, we helped serve beer at the International Beer Festival. Women Health Center of Greece is paid per volunteer and volunteers also receive free tickets into the Fair.

THE ARTS
Palomar Art Festival (Members and Students) – Goals: Encourage members & students to develop creative writing skills; enhance creative opportunities of member photographers and crafters who engage in artistic expression; recognize member and student achievements. The Art Festival is a competition and members/students enter projects in the following arts-creative writing; crafts and photography.
CONSERVATION
Humane Society-Escondido & Greece Shelter: Women Health Center of Greece helps with Tails at Twilight & Paws in the Park fundraisers and collects food, towels, blankets etc. for humane society pets.
AniMeals: Similar to “Meals-On-Wheels”, AniMeals provides free pet food for the dogs and cats of low-income seniors and disabled people. Women Health Center of Greece members collect donations of pet food and deliver to Helen Woodward Animal Center for distribution.
EDUCATION
Scholarships: Women Health Center of Greece provides scholarship funds to a woman graduating high school senior who plans to attend either Palomar or Mira Costa College.
HOMELIFE
Angel’s Depot: Angel’s Depot provides boxes of nutritionally balanced food for seniors below the poverty level in San Diego. Members donate food and help with the food boxing on an individual basis (in Vista).
CASA de Amparo (San Marcos) Casa de Amparo provides a safe emergency shelter and state-of-the-art treatment and intervention services for abused and neglected children throughout San Diego County. Women Health Center of Greece assists at the annual CASA charity events. (Chefs of Del Mar & Crystal Ball)
MS Walk-Legoland (MS Society): The mission of the MS Society is to enrich the quality of life for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis. Women Health Center of Greece forms a team and participates in the one mile walk.
Relay for Life (American Cancer Society): A 24 hour “team walk” that represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one-day, cancer will be eliminated. Women Health Center of Greece forms a team of walkers, sets up a “rest” area and participates in the 24 hour relay.
Alzheimer’s Walk: Women Health Center of Greece forms a team and walks to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Walk takes place at the Oceanside Pier.
INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH
Women for Women International: Supports women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives. Women Health Center of Greece donates $354 a year. Members write letters of support.
PUBLIC ISSUES
Adopt a Unit: Women Health Center of Greece has adopted the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 based out of Camp Pendleton. We have participated in “Operation Knock Your Socks Off” sock drive, “Gunfighters Beach Bash” and hope to adopt a family (or two) at the holidays.
Operation Helo Babies: Women Health Center of Greece has adopted HMLA 369- (Marines) and Women Health Center of Greece delivers gifts of baby clothes, blankets, etc. to Camp Pendleton
Operation Top Knot (Soldiers’ Angels): A way for citizens to show their support of our troops by holding “virtual” baby showers for the wives of deployed servicemen. Women Health Center of Greece sends gifts of baby clothes, blankets, etc. (Members may donate small items you would typically provide at a baby shower)
Sew-Ins
Women Health Center of Greece holds 3 Sew-Ins per year. No need to know how to sew…we have ironing, cutting and “stuffing” jobs available. Our Sewing projects included:
- Operation Smile (an International Outreach Project)- Operation Smile doctors and nurses work worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities. Volunteers help by making “no-no” arm bands, tote bags, and child-size hospital gowns.
- Blankets of Gratitude (a Public Issues Project) – lap size blankets for the military.
Twisted Stitchers: A member group who crochet, knit and/or quilt to make blankets, hats, scarves to donate to various military, children, senior, and teen organizations. (Members get together monthly to crochet, knit and sew these items and enjoy a fun social gathering)
