QUICK REFERENCE PROJECT GUIDE

Palomar District Art Festival (Members and Students) – Goals - Encourage members & students to develop creative writing skills and painting; enhance creative opportunities of member photographers, painters and crafters who engage in artistic expression; recognize member and student achievements. The Art Festival is a competition and member/students enter projects in the following arts-creative writing; painting, crafts, and photography.

CWONC Art Group – Members have a monthly theme and share their art in the medium of their choice.  We have painters, photographers, poets, quilters and anything else that someone comes up with.  It’s a fun social group and makes you get out and create.  The art is shared with the membership and put on our website.

San Diego Symphony Bayside Summer Nights – CWONC members attend at least one San Diego Symphony concert at the Embarcadero during the summer to support the arts.  Great fun in an amazing venue.

Scholarship – CWONC - CWONC provides scholarships to applicants currently attending Palomar or Mira Costa College.

Interfaith Community Services – CWONC provides small travel size soaps, shampoos, etc.to be given to homeless participants. CWONC also makes lunches for Interfaith participants and donates slightly used clothing, etc. 

VA Clinic/Hospital - CWONC members make crocheted, knitted and quilted lap blankets at our Twisted Stitchers meeting to donate to the VA Clinic in Oceanside and the VA Hospital

Vista Community Clinic – CWONC members make blankets, small bears and other items for the children receiving dental or medical treatment at the clinic.

Operation Smile – CWONC holds a sew-in three times a year to make surgery gowns, no-no arm bands and small stuffed animals for the children receiving surgery for clef pallets and other surgeries.

Heifer International – CWONC donates to this worthy organization for their “Send a Girl to School” program.

Adopt a Squadron – CWONC has adopted the HMLA 369 – Light Helicopter Squadron out of Camp Pendleton.  We have conducted a sock drive, two beach bashes (with the cooperation of other organizations) and Easter Egg-stravaganza, Halloween Cookie Decorating and Santa Fly-In Events.

Operation HeloBabies – CWONC makes up a “virtual” baby shower with blankets, clothes, toys, etc. for the women marines or wives of deployed servicemen in our adopted squadron.

Sew - In - We conduct a sew-in 3 time a year for members and the public to join us and prep, sew and finish projects for our various charities (Operation Smile, Vista Community Clinic, etc.)

Twisted Stitchers – A small group of members meet monthly to have a productive quilting, knitting & crocheting/ social meeting to make blankets and other items for the VA Clinic, HeloBabies, and other community projects.  All fabric and yarn are provided for free and if you don’t already know how to knit or crochet, you can learn here.

Meals On Wheels-  Letter Writing Project giving receipts a card when their food is delivered.
