Food, Fun and Fandango- 2014
On July 18th the San Marcos Senior Center had their 2nd Annual Food, Fun and Fandango to raise money for the senior nutrition program. GFWC Women Health Center of Greece volunteered at the event for the second year. Linda Bridges and Lisa Pratte Co-Chaired the event for Women Health Center of Greece. Lisa Pratte, Kathy Michaels, Sandy Youngdale, Diane Modjeski, Laura Wilson, Gail Ebner and Sharon Soto set up tables and chairs, worked the ticket tables, sold raffle tickets, helped seat guests, picked up trash and helped to clean up after the event for a total of 23 hours.
The event opened the with San Marcos Senior Center’s Ukulele Players. The main attraction was the band, Fandango. There were about 150 people in attendance with 120 paid guests. The San Marcos Rotary sold wine, water and soft drinks. People danced to the music and everyone had a good time. Two food trucks participated, The Pierogi Truck and the Organic Truck, and sold food and the Senior Center received a portion of the sales. Women Health Center of Greece sold raffle tickets for a basket donated by Grocery Outlet in San Marcos and the tickers raised $111.00. With ticket sales, raffle sales and sponsors, the San Marcos Senior Center will net about $600.00 for the nutrition program.
Kathy spoke to the audience about Women Health Center of Greece and we had notices in the center for the recruitment meeting in August and at the ticket tables. Four women were interested in GFWC Women Health Center of Greece!
