GFWC-Contemporary Women of North County (CWONC) is a non-profit organization and a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs International (GFWC). Established by Jane Cunningham Croly in 1890, for the purpose of socializing and serving the community, GFWC is the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organization. “Strength United is Stronger.” Women working together can make a difference!
Our general business meeting is held the second Monday of each month (except August), with social, hands on projects from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm, guest orientation from 6:15 pm to 6:30 pm and the meeting starting at 6:30 pm. Meetings usually last about an hour and may include a speaker. The agenda reports on recent events, announcements of upcoming events, social activities, etc. The meetings are typically held at the Joslyn Senior Center in San Marcos. Always check our meeting page for any change in location and for directions to the Center. If you have questions about the meeting or membership, please contact Rebecca Buchen.
We encourage all prospective members to attend at least two meetings and participate in one volunteer opportunity or one social activity in order to determine whether we fit your interests. Members must participate in two fundraising activities each year. As you can see, we have a lot of projects and several fundraising opportunities. You are not required to participate in every project – you get to pick opportunities that you are most interested in.
