We would love to have you join our club of amazing women and participate in as many activities as you wish. We do require that each member participate in two fundraising events and highly suggest that you attend a couple of meetings before you join to make sure we are a good fit for you.
San Diego Symphony Bayside Summer Nights – CWONC members attend at least one San Diego Symphony concert at the Embarcadero during the summer to support the arts.
Recycling – Members bring aluminum cans and plastic bottles to the meeting. Kathy M recycles these for club projects.
Scholarships – CWONC provides scholarships to applicants currently attending Palomar or Mira Costa College.
Hands-on-History – CWONC volunteers help the San Marcos Historical Society at Heritage Park to provide an opportunity for first-graders to experience what life was like for children living 120 years ago in San Marcos.
Interfaith Community Services – CWONC provides small travel size soaps, shampoos, etc.to be given to homeless participants. CWONC also makes lunches for Interfaith participants.
Solutions for Change – CWONC members volunteer at their facility to prepare and serve meals. They provide transformational housing for families while getting job skills, training and counseling services.
VA Clinic/Hospital – CWONC members make crocheted, knitted and quilted lap blankets at our Twisted Stitchers meeting to donate to the VA Clinic in Oceanside and the VA Hospital
Vista Community Clinic – CWONC members make blankets, small bears, tooth fairy pillows and other items for the children receiving dental or medical treatment at the clinic.
Operation Smile – CWONC holds a sew-in three times a year to make surgery gowns, no-no arm bands and small stuffed animals for the children receiving surgery for clef pallets and other surgeries.
Heifer International – CWONC donates to this worthy organization for their “Send a Girl to School” program.
Adopt a Squadron – CWONC has adopted the HMLA 369 – Light Helicopter Squadron out of Camp Pendleton. We have conducted a sock drive, two beach bashes (with the cooperation of other organizations) and Easter Eggstravaganza and Halloween Cookie Decorating, serve Thanksgiving meal and Santa Fly-In Events.
Operation HeloBabies – CWONC puts together a “virtual” baby shower package with blankets, clothes, toys, etc. for the women marines or wives of deployed servicemen in our adopted squadron.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Sew – In – We conduct a sew-in 3 time a year for members and the public to join us and prepare, sew items and finish projects for our various charities (Operation Smile, Vista Community Clinic, etc.)
Twisted Stitchers – A group of members meet monthly to have a productive quilting, knitting & crocheting/ social gathering to make blankets and other items for the VA Clinic, HeloBabies, and other community projects. All fabric and yarn are provided for free and if you don’t already know how to knit or crochet, you can learn here.
Creative Arts – A small group of members meet monthly to show their creativity in the art medium of their choice, ie. painting, photography, writing, sewing, etc. Each month a new theme is picked and members create something to show their vision for the theme. Lots of fun!!
San Diego County Fair – CWONC assists as Student Showcase Clerks helping the judges compile scores for student-submitted art. CWONC is paid per volunteer hour and volunteers receive free tickets to the Fair.
Annual International Beer Festival – Many members serve as stewards at the Annual San Diego International Beer Festival – the largest beer festival on the West Coast. The event is an opportunity for CWONC to raise funds in support of our favorite community projects.
